Quilate do Rosario – 6-year-old Lusitano gelding If any horse is like the human mind, it is Quilate. Soft, sensitive, and incredibly willing to please — yet never reactive or spooky. Quilate came to me directly from the breeder, so I am only his second owner. The first time a friend of mine rode him, she said: “If this horse were a person, he would be perfect husband material.” 😄 Quilate would fly to the moon if his rider asked him to. He never needs to be forced, persuaded, or pushed — he simply wants to do whatever his human asks of him. He has three exceptionally quality gaits (including the walk) and would be an excellent prospect for working equitation, dressage, or versatile pleasure riding — and above all, to become a deeply loved family member. He performs lateral work, green flying changes, and collects beautifully. He has movement and agility when needed, but also knows how to quietly plod along and relax. He enjoys jumping and hacking out. When lunging or working from the ground, he does not need a lunge line or whip — Quilate responds to voice aids and follows human body language naturally. Measured at home at approximately 158 cm at the withers, and he will still continue to develop and gain substance. We attended Golegã in November, and Quilate behaved there as if he had always belonged. His full brother, Picante do Rosario, who is one year older, lives in the Helsinki metropolitan area in Finland and regularly receives praise, including in clinics with Janne Bergh (Finnish-Norwegian olympic rider and coach) A full veterinary examination including X-rays was completed in October 2025 with no remarks. Quilate is currently in training with a Dutch professional rider three times a week, while also being regularly ridden and hacked out by his amateur owner (myself) and my friends.
